Bacteriostatic Water (BW) is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is classified as a multi-use diluent designed for reconstitution of lyophilized compounds in research applications. Each vial meets USP standards for sterility and endotoxin limits.
Bacteriostatic water is used in research settings as the standard reconstitution vehicle for lyophilized peptides, proteins, and other compounds. The 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits microbial growth, allowing the reconstituted solution to be used over multiple sessions — unlike sterile water for injection, which must be discarded after a single use.
